It's been a busy few weeks.
While I made a commitment earlier this year to get back into blogging after my 4 month hiatus (laziness), sometimes my consistency is a little uneven. Perfect case in point, I didn't write this Monday morning, like I promised myself I would do from now until I die. (Maybe I overcommitted just a little bit)
But I accidentally happened upon my old, old blog posts from 2007 or so - when I was using Blogger as the main platform. (At the writing of this piece, they are still available at blog.rocklandwebdesign.com) They were pretty darn good - and dare I say, what I wrote then, inspires me now!
You ever hear someone tell you that you should listen to your older self? Well - it's certainly true. I wish I did some of the things I do now, back 10 years ago when I started Rockland Web Design. But I also happen to believe that everything happens for a reason. The circle of life is such that every point in our existence (past, present, future) still encompasses who we are. It is my belief that God didn't just create us, he created our entire map. To me, the purpose of this map that we navigate is to gain a deep understanding of ourselves and our realities - and to ignore the past is to rob ourselves of the opportunity to learn from it. (I'm not saying feel bad about the past - I'm saying study it. Or if you did something cool, be proud of it! You deserve to smile!)
So when you write, write not just to inspire your audience, write to give yourself a gift. Like the journal you may write into from time to time to chronicle your journey, write publicly to reveal yourself to both your audience, and yourself!
...just remember to make approximately 5% of your text into SEO keywords, so that Google finds and ranks what you write! :-)
(If you need help with that, give us a call! We rock at that sort of thing.)
